Prayers

Hello everyone!
This month my team was challenged to create sympathy cards.  I know I do not spend a lot of time thinking about this type of card because I would rather focus on more happy occasions.  This is why my team leader decided to set this type of card as the challenge for the month of March.

Supplies:

Rich Razzelberry ink pad
Elegant Eggplant ink pad
VersaMark ink pad
Painter's tape or low tack tape
Black embossing powder
Bleach
Paint Brush or Q-tip
Label Punch
Whisper White paper (3 pieces) 4 x 5 1/4 (2) and a scrap for the front sentiment
Basic Black 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 (card base), and a scrap to place under the front sentiment as a shadow.
Rich Razzelberry paper (2 pieces) 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, 3 x 5
Sponges

Stamp sets:

Thoughts and Prayers
Touches of Texture

Steps:

1.  Torn Painter's tape placed around the edges of one piece of whisper white will give the jagged edge once the ink has been sponged on.  The tape will need to be wide enough to cover the edge of the paper and tape down to your work surface.  If you have the wide painters tape tear it down the middle and you can use both pieces, you will need four pieces to tape the whisper white down.  When sponging, I normally start with the lighter of the two colors and lightly sponge the entire area.  I then used Elegant Eggplant from the tape to about an inch inside of the tape.

2.  From the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set, there will be two different floral images, with the one of your choosing stamp the image on the bottom of the card with VersaMark and heat emboss with black embossing powder.

3.  Lightly spritz the image with water and blot with a napkin or towel.  Doing so will leave light splotches on the dark Elegant Eggplant ink.  It may also wick out on the edges.

4.  Attach your image to the larger piece of Rich Razzelberry paper (base mat), and then attach the Rich Razzelberry to your Basic Black card base.

5.  With the smaller piece of Rich Razzelberry paper, stamp three dragonflies with VersaMark ink and emboss with black embossing powder.  To get the lighter slightly purplish color you will use bleach!  Sounds crazy but with a Q-tip or a small paint brush carefully paint the inside of the dragonflies.  If you use a paint brush make sure it is one that you do not mind throwing out.  Eventually the bleach will destroy the bristles of the brush.  I keep one specifically for using with bleach.  If you use a heat tool to dry the butterflies the color change will deepen.  BE CAREFUL WITH THE BLEACH!!  Once you have the dragonflies colored and dried, you will need to cut them out by hand as there is no die for this.

6.  Attach the dragonflies with glue or for more POP use dimensionals under the wings!

7.  Attach the second piece of whisper white to the inside of the card.  Stamp the inside sentiment in this area.

If you have any questions about this card please message.
